Your child can pursue their dreams

We want our children to be happy and successful, pursuing great-fit dreams that align with their strengths, interests, and values.

We want them to learn to:

  • Envision themselves supporting themselves doing work they enjoy.
  • Identify and pursue the activities and accomplishments that will support their goals, without getting overextended.
  • Set attainable goals, manage risk, showcase their strengths, and earn acceptance to great-fit colleges.

As I help students craft their college journeys, I take great joy in discovering and celebrating their individuality. I craft their assignments to challenge and develop their abilities, and together we learn more than any assessment could tell us.

I help each student craft a custom college journey.

As you may already know...

Achieving this goal is easier said than done

  • Some students don't focus on the college journey until it is too late to significantly improve their options.
  • Others try to avoid the anxiety of uncertainty by "locking in" prematurely to a suboptimal choice or by limiting their search to a narrow or inappropriate list of schools.
  • The dramatic growth in use of college consultants has put students who apply on their own at a disadvantage. Many overworked in-school counselors support hundreds of students each year.
  • Significant changes in financial aid, use of standardized tests, and how colleges decide who to admit make it hard for non-professionals to navigate the college admissions landscape.
  • Admissions rates at highly selective institutions continue to drop.
  • At many colleges, financial struggles or mismanagement negatively impact the quality of educational programs.

Here's the truth:

Your family can enjoy this season

Your student can navigate the transition to college in a way that strengthens family bonds, instead of stressing everyone out by doing too much, too little, or the wrong things. I engage with parents as partners. Together, we help students mature through this process and take responsibility for the success of their college journey.

"I wouldn't be where I am today without your help."

Introducing

Craft your College Journey

A unique program that combines the efficiency of online learning with the customization of personal coaching to help students boost their options. Don't settle for majors and classes that colleges are struggling to fill. Earn opportunities that prepare you to thrive in work you enjoy.

Proven roadmap

Early on, students do the "heavy lifting" of self-assessment and goal setting, and we meet to interpret assessments and explore options. This helps keep the focus of college on the desired outcome.

20 Private Coaching Hours

Depending on when they start, students may meet monthly, quarterly, or more often. Private coaching hours may also be used for email support, research support, essay support, or analytic support on special topics, such as college financial strength or affordability.

Shared Worksheets, Checklists, and Guides

In a shared Google Drive folder, your student will have a personalized set of Google Sheets and Documents that we will use to track progress, capture insights, and communicate effectively.

Weave between the themes

In this private Craft your College Journey program, students benefit from being able to weave between the first three themes (see below). Insights from one theme often impact thinking about a different theme.

Here's what this program offers:

Everything your student needs to craft their college journey

Theme 1

Self-Discovery and Goals

Personal, professional coaching draws on strength- and aptitude-based assessments. Students benefit from college and career guidance that helps them identify key accomplishments and activities to pursue.

Theme 2

Explore Careers

Students use our Explorer Platform to explore careers and majors that suit them. Whenever a student can envision themselves in a career they enjoy, they gain motivation for their journey and strengthen their applications.

Theme 3

Research Colleges

Students learn to evaluate colleges, focusing on the factors that are important to them. Our Explorer platform allows them to conduct their research in private to mitigate the risks of interest or financial data being used against them.

Theme 4

Apply to Colleges

Prior work pays off as students present cohesive applications that demonstrate their fit for the colleges and majors they have decided to pursue. They generally so they have plenty of time for financial aid and scholarship applications.

How does this sound?

After applying...

  • Students enjoy senior year with less college stress.
  • Students receive acceptances to multiple great-fit colleges.
  • Students evaluate (and sometimes improve) their offers.
  • Most students announce decisions by May 1.
  • The next fall, each student begins pursuing their chosen path at a great-fit college, with the increased confidence and motivation that comes from making a thoughtful decision they trust.

Elly positioned herself for graduate school:

She's pursuing Physical Therapy at a college where she can benefit from an admissions advantage when applying to their Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Her mom says Jane's services were "worth every penny."

Joshua earned admission and scholarships:

After getting admitted to the University of Michigan's highly competitive nursing program, Joshua was offered in-state tuition and $40k in scholarships from their National Guard program. His Mom says, "Jane's strategic advice, encouragement, and help with essays was invaluable."

Meet your teacher

Hi, I'm Jane

I help students make discoveries about themselves as they define and pursue their college goals. I love helping them craft unique ways to demonstrate their suitability for the paths they want to pursue.

Is a student leaning toward business? As a Certified Project Management Professional, with an MBA from Johns Hopkins, I  can help such students learn and apply the principles of Project Management as they journey.

Is a student interested in healthcare, research, or data science?  As a former analytic methodologist, I can help students find programs and activities that support their goals.

After working as a general college admissions consultant, I started CRAFT to allow me to focus more on these creative and career aspects of college journey.

Previously...

I provided decision support to senior policymakers in the executive branch of the federal government. I won a major writing competition and used my skills in scenario planning and alternative futures work to support national security objectives.

Before that, I worked my way up from Director of Communications to Chief Operating Officer of an international franchise organization. I helped grow the company from 9 stores to more than 100.

This is possible for you too.

Your student can define and achieve their college goals. I'll be with them every step of the way.

LET'S DO THIS

This is for you if:

  • You want to support your student's growing independence but don't want them to flounder or miss out.
  • You have high aspirations for your child and want to unleash their potential.
  • You want to avoid college debt and find affordable opportunities.

This isn't for you if:

  • You want to attend a non-selective, nearby college and avoid thinking about careers and majors until you're in college.
  • You have your heart set on a super-selective college but don't have the motivation and ability to do the work needed to get accepted.
  • You would be better off working with a specialist in athletic recruiting or performing arts.

Abby gained career confidence:

"When she got off the plane [after her scholarship interview and tour at American Airlines headquarters] she was on cloud nine."

Emma cut her costs dramatically:

By starting out living at home, taking Dual Enrollment courses in high school, and putting together a powerful application, Emma earned maximum scholarships, started as a sophomore, and is paying her $3k in total annual costs herself. Her Mom says, "Jane's work with Emma was transformational. We can't thank her enough."

Are you ready to give your child this boost?

Knowing that college is oten an inflection point in the lives of young adults, many families stress about where their student will go and how they will manage. Real talk, my friend

An opportunity for your family.

Bringing in a family-friendly mentor to help your student navigate the process and stresses of this major transition can free you to be the supportive parent you want to be.

Enjoy this time with your child:
  • Avoid feeling you need to organize everything.
  • Create space for your child to explore.

Daniel charted his own path:

After living overseas most of his life and with little in college savings, Daniel appreciated the opportunity to start out at a community college and then transition to a 4-year college. His Mom says, "Jane was a wonderful, encouraging mentor as Daniel found his way in what seemed like an impossible situation."

Lizzie wanted to attend a Big 10 University:

She considered several career paths and applied for different majors at different schools. Her work paid off as she was accepted to the Residential Business College at Michigan State (as well as five other Big 10 schools). She says, "I'm glad that I thought things through, so I don't waste time on classes I don't need."
